SUMMARY:Casglu with Angharad Jones-Young
DESCRIPTION:Casglu is a monthly space for professional dancers and movement practitioners to come together\, explore their craft and learn from established industry leaders. \n\n\n\nThe first half of the workshop will include a warm up and strength and conditioning work before moving into travelling sequences and phrases. The movement style will be a mix of floorwork\, standing material which focuses on turns\, twists and spirals\, as well as some elements of Afro-fusion. The second half of the session will be focused on partner-work – this will be a mixture of set tasks and also duet improvisations. The session is suitable for anyone who likes to move and groove\, and is up for trying something fun and new. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAngharad Jones-Young is a Welsh contemporary dancer\, who grew up in Eryri (Snowdonia)\, North Wales. She trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. After graduating\, Angharad has been touring nationally and internationally\, dancing with companies including National Dance Company Wales\, ACE dance & music\, Autin Dance Theatre\, Ransack Dance Company and Keneish Dance. Alongside performing\, Angharad has a strong passion for dance teaching. She is a contemporary dance lecturer at Performers College. In 2023\, she made her Edinburgh Fringe debut with a sellout run of her musical comedy hour ‘Composition’. It was met with critical acclaim – ‘an eye-catching introduction to a comic of promise’ (Guardian). The show then transferred to Soho Theatre\, where it was dubbed ‘a debut full of charm\, originality and promise’ (The Telegraph). \n\n\n\nDescribed as ‘the actual future of comedy’ (LMAOnaise)\, her television and radio stand-up credits include Comedy Central Live (Comedy Central)\, BBC New Comedy Awards (BBC Three)\, Live at Aberystwyth Pier (BBC One Wales)\, Crush Hour (Audible)\, Loose Ends (BBC Radio 4)\, Stand-up Sesh (BBC One Wales)\, and The Leak (BBC Radio Wales). She is bilingual\, with Welsh Language credits including Ffyrnig (S4C) and Ni y Nawdegau (BBC Cymru). She has provided tour support for Jessica Fostekew\, Laura Smyth and Nish Kumar. \n\n\n\nLeila’s most recent piece is a musical comedy ‘Relay’\, which premiered at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe at the Pleasance in Courtyard. The production was part of the Pleasance Edinburgh National Partnership\, presented in collaboration with the Sherman Theatre. It is currently touring across the UK. \n\n\n\nWrite With… is delivered in partnership with Sherman Theatre.

Theatre credits include: Jack and the Beanstalk (Stratford East)\, Pop Music (Paines Plough / Birmingham Rep / Hull Truck Theatre)\, Mother Courage and Her Children (Royal Exchange / Headlong)\, We Anchor In Hope (Bunker Theatre)\, The Unreturning (Frantic Assembly / National Tour / Stratford East). Anna won the Bruntwood Prize in 2013 for her play YEN\, which has had productions at The Royal Exchange\, Royal Court and MCC New York as well as several international productions. It was also shortlisted for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. TV credits include: Succession\, Killing Eve\, Becoming Elizabeth and the TV adaptation of One Day. She has recently finished her debut feature film. Anna also teaches acting and playwriting. She has worked as a mentor for young people\, writers and actors and has taught at several drama schools. Matthew works on both sides of the Atlantic\, with original projects and adaptations in production and development with multiple networks and studios\, including HBO\, BBC\, Fifth Season and Netflix. \n\n\n\nHis upcoming BBC Drama series\, ‘Old Town Murders’\, set in Tenby\, will TX in 2027. His original drama\, ‘The Guest’ for BBC One / Showtime was one of the BBC’s biggest dramas of 2025. The Financial Times called it “a gripping gothic tale of rich and poor.” \n\n\n\n‘Men Up’\, also for BBC One\, won Matthew the award for Best Writer at the BAFTA Cymru Awards\, RTS Wales Award for Best Drama\, Best Feature at the Banff World Media Festival\, the C21 International Drama Award\, and was nominated for a Broadcast Award and the RTS Best Single Drama Award. \n\n\n\nAn alumni of the BBC Writers’ Academy\, Matthew’s previous credits include ‘Industry’\, ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’\, ‘Death in Paradise’\, ‘Banana’ and ‘Stella’. \n\n\n\nMatthew started his career writing across numerous continuing dramas including multiple episodes of ‘Eastenders’\, ‘Holby City’ and ‘Casualty’\, for which he penned the 30th Anniversary episode and RTS Award Winning Episode. \n\n\n\nWrite With… is delivered in partnership with Sherman Theatre.

He has won many Awards including Olivier and Tony Awards for new plays. His 2026 play An Ark staged by Tim Drum Collective at the Shed in New York was one of the first plays ever written for Mixed Reality . His radical adaptation of Uncle Vanya\, Vanya\, starring Andrew Scott ran in London’s West End and at the Lucille Lortel\, New York\, between Autumn 23 and Spring 25 and was screened to phenomenal success on NT Live and NT Home. His adaptation of Jose Saramago’s Blindness was made into a light and sound installation that was produced internationally during the Covid 19 pandemic. His most famous play is his adaptation of Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel\, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. He has had thirty five original plays produced professionally. \n\n\n\nHe has written new English language versions of masterpieces by Chekhov\, Ibsen and Brecht\, collaborated with the world’s leading theatre practitioners (Patrice Chereau\, Ivo Van Hove\, Marianne Elliott\, Katie Mitchell) and produced original work throughout Europe\, Asia\, Australia and the Americas. \n\n\n\nHe has been Artistic Associate at the Lyric\, Hammersmith and Associate Playwright at the Royal Court Theatre. He has taught playwriting workshops in five continents. He has presented four series of the celebrated Playwright’s Podcast from the Royal Court Theatre. He is a Professor at the Writing School of Manchester Metropolitan University. His book A Working Diary was published by Methuen Bloomsbury in 2016. \n\n\n\nWrite With… is delivered in partnership with Sherman Theatre.
