Frequently Asked Questions

Is Stwidio Clwyd a space?

No – it is not a physical space. The team at Stiwdio Clwyd draw on various spaces and resources at Theatr Clwyd (and further afield) to support artists and theatre-makers. We will create bespoke opportunities that provide artists with what they need to undertake their work with us.

Are you looking to programme touring work?

Stiwdio Clwyd will does not programme performances. For programming enquires for any of the Theatr Clwyd spaces, please contact programming@theatrclwyd.com.

Do you offer internships?

Not currently, but keep an eye on the Opportunities page for future updates. Please note that Stiwdio Clwyd will not offer unpaid internships, unless to those in formal training or higher education. If you are a Year 10 or Year 11 student looking for Work Experience at Theatr Clwyd, please visit here, and if you are currently in training in production, please look out for our Production Placement opportunities.

How do you define “artist” and “theatre-maker”?

We define these as anyone involved in the making of theatre. This could include (but is not limited to) technicians, designers, stage management, producers, actors, directors, writers and more. If you’re not certain whether Stiwdio Clwyd can support your practice, please email stiwdio@theatrclwyd.com to discuss with the team.

Does my work need to fit at Theatr Clwyd to be appropriate for Stiwdio Clwyd?

No! Stiwdio Clwyd is not a creative pipeline for any theatre, meaning we are able support artists who do not create work that would fit the conventional programming of Theatr Clwyd’s stages. We would encourage you to apply for opportunities of interest even if you do not feel the future of your project lies at Theatr Clwyd.

How do you define “local” in opportunities that are specifically for the Local Artists Network?

We define “local” as those artists based in either Flintshire, Denbighshire or Wrexham.

Do I need to be based in North Wales?

We may be able to help artists access rehearsal or development space, but this is not a guarantee. If you would like to enquire about space-in-kind, please contact stiwdio@theatrclwyd.com with an outline of your project, the size of space you would need, and the dates you would need it. Alternatively, consider if any of the Stiwdio Clwyd programmes may meet your needs as applying there may be more suitable.

No, the majority of Stiwdio Clwyd’s work is open to artists from across Wales. We do have a dedicated Local Artists Network for those based in North East Wales, but we will specify if any events or opportunities are only available for local artists.

Can you give me access to free space?
